Ash BathiaAsh Bathia

Ash joined QBE in 1997 to establish and develop the UK and international liability portfolio. Prior to this, he was International Liability Underwriter at Eagle Star for seven years, having spent over 10 years in their provincial and City offices.  Following the integration of QBE’s Lloyd’s and Company Casualty operations, Ash became joint Managing Director of QBE’s newly formed Casualty division in 2007.  Following a restructure in 2010, the Motor and Property divisions also came under his direction and he assumed his current role of Chief Underwriting Officer of QBE’s Property, Casualty and Motor division.

Matthew graduated from Leeds University in 1995 and commenced work with Ensign Motor Policies at Lloyd’s as Assistant Underwriter in 1996.  After completing his ACII in April 2000 he was appointed to the position of Fleet Underwriter. In 2003 Matthew was promoted to the position of Deputy Underwriter with overall responsibility for the underwriting functions at Ensign, which also included the management of the recently purchased Torch motor policies account. Two years later, when QBE purchased the Ensign motor portfolio, Matthew was promoted to the position of Underwriting Director and then within two months the position of Portfolio Director with sole responsibility for the motor portfolio for QBE.  This position has now evolved into the role of Managing Director for Motor European Operations.

Colin O’Farrell

Marine, Energy and Aviation

Colin entered the insurance industry in 1984 when he joined the marine underwriting department of the Insurance Company of North America (UK) Ltd.  He left in 1986 to assist in establishing Syndicate 1036 at Lloyd’s, with Neil Copping as the Active Underwriter. In 1992 Colin became the Energy Underwriter and in 1997 he was appointed Syndicate Deputy.  Following Neil’s retirement in June 2002, Colin became Active Underwriter of the Syndicate and in 2007 went on to become Managing Director for QBE European Operations’ Marine & Energy Division.  In 2010, Colin was appointed Chief Underwriting Officer of QBE’s expanded Marine, Energy and Aviation division.

Jonathan Parry

Jonathan Parry

Reinsurance

Jonathan has 30 years experience in the London reinsurance market and joined Lloyd’s Syndicate 566 in September 2000. He became Syndicate Deputy in 2002 and then Active Underwriter in 2005. In 2010, Jonathan was first appointed to the role of Managing Director of QBE’s Reinsurance & Specialist division and then went on to assume the role of Chief Underwriting Officer of Reinsurance.
