QBE views effective risk management as an essential feature of all successful organisations and uses information about a firm’s risk profile to underwrite effectively. The Professional Indemnity QA Team supports the underwriting process by providing information to help in the selection and management of risk, and to do this, we provide a range of risk assessment and management services to firms we insure or may insure in the future.
Services may also be provided as added value to the insurance proposition when there are no particular concerns about a firm’s risk profile. In consultation with the underwriter, broker and client, our QA personnel determine the most appropriate service package, and deliver this through our team of highly experienced quality and risk consultants. Our risk management services are based on quality assurance principles, notably the application of comprehensive and consistent processes coupled with effective corrective and improvement systems, and include:
*QBE PI has developed a unique range of quality assurance-based risk-assessment questionnaires which reflect the diversity of our client base. Over the decade or so that these have been used, thousands of firms have assessed their profiles against our risk and best practice indicators, the results of which demonstrate clearly that those firms willing to engage in our risk assessment process experience less turbulent claims records than firms that don’t.
One of our key objectives therefore is to encourage engagement in the process to raise awareness of risk management issues and to promote the adoption of quality assurance and best practice to manage risk. So our risk assessment is not all about the results; we do not expect firms to score 100% from the outset, but we do aim to work with firms that need to improve their management processes so that the likelihood and value of claims is reduced. We recognise that this process takes time, but this approach is wholly consistent with our aims of continuity, stability, and a long-term commitment to the professional indemnity market.
The way in which business is conducted is ever changing, so too is the way in which organisations manage and monitor their risk profiles. With this in mind QBE has developed QRisk, a unique and innovative risk management tool, which makes the assessment, monitoring and knowledge about risk, easier to access and manage, regardless of the size, scope or nature of your business. At the heart of QRisk is QBE’s suite of questionnaires designed to assess a broad range of governance, compliance and risk issues.
Our questionnaires and training modules for Solicitors are accredited by the Solicitors Regulation Authority and those for Architects, Engineers, Surveyors and Design & Construct firms are accredited under RIBA’s CPD and Core Curriculum Schemes.
